About Me

I’m Claire, a Mindful Natal® antenatal and hypnobirthing teacher, postnatal doula, and founder of Mamma Doula.

I live on the edge of the beautiful Chiltern Hills in Tring, Hertfordshire, with my husband and two young daughters. Our rainbow baby, Eva was born in 2016 and Lola soon after in 2017.

I work across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and am passionate about supporting families towards positive beginnings, offering support every step of the way, through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

As a Mindful Natal® teacher, I can help you to feel calm, confident, and prepared for your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey, and as a postnatal doula I can offer you a nurturing and supportive presence, caring for you and your family in the early days, weeks, and months of parenthood.

My Story

I have long had an interest in all thing’s pregnancy, birth, and babies, but it was the arrival of my own two children that took me away from the wonderful world of advertising and into the even more wonderful world of antenatal care and postnatal support.

Mamma Doula was born following the premature arrival of our youngest daughter, which changed everything for me. Lola was born at 30 weeks, following a complicated pregnancy, and spent the first two months of her life in hospital. It was a challenging and life changing experience. I was lucky to have some amazing support but looking back now I realise that even with this support, those early days were tough – tougher than they needed to be. In hindsight, we should have hired a postnatal doula, but isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing!

I am grateful for my experience though as it became my inspiration for supporting families on their own pregnancy, birth and postnatal journeys. My motivation is fuelled by my passion and understanding of the benefits of personalised care and support when you need it most.

I truly believe that even with the most challenging of circumstances and difficult journey beginnings, that with the right support you can enjoy a calm, confident and enjoyable start to parenthood.

Claire is absolutely brilliant. Nothing is too much and was a fantastic support to me and my son. Claire helped me gain confidence in looking after my son as a single mum. Would highly recommend Claire if you're looking for a doula.

We had the pleasure of having Claire's support for our firstborn daughter over the first months. Claire is uniquely gifted in her profession and combines practical advice with taking care of the baby, providing real relief to parents. Her strong listening skills and open communication made us feel understood and reassured in our journey. We hope to have Claire's support for our next child and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, passionate, and caring doula.

Claire is the best! With the anxiety of becoming a first time mum I felt I needed some help and I’m so glad I found Claire. Her attentiveness, knowledge and calming compassionate nature really helped me and my husband take the step naturally into parenthood. She was always there when I needed a chat, cry, hug or nap! She gave such great advice and genuinely the nicest person with such a kind and caring nature, her passion really shines through. I couldn’t recommend her more.

We don't have any family nearby, so imagining having a baby and no support was pretty scary for us. We were so lucky to find Claire and that she had time to support us! She was the best doula we could've imagined. She supported us with her knowledge and advice, cooked the best meals, took care of the garden and dog and made sure I have pictures with my baby, too. She made us feel so well cared for, was always open for a warming chat and I felt safe with her watching baby while I took a shower - all so important when you're having your first baby.  She became a part of our little family.

Claire was absolutely amazing. My husband and I did a private course with her due to availability and it was honestly incredible. It meant that Claire could tailor it to what we wanted to hear more about or focus on more. She was so patient and understanding and the lessons have been so worthwhile. I went from being extremely terrified of birth to (almost) looking forward to it. She taught us mindful birthing techniques including breath work, optimal positions, visualisations and so much more. But she also combined this with the physiology of birth which really helped me, in particular, understand what happens at each stage of labour and birth. The combination of that knowledge, together with what to do at each stage, has helped both my husband and myself feel ready for the big day. Aside from all of this though, Claire is also just an all-round lovely person with a lot of empathy and very personable - which ultimately made the lessons something we looked forward to and enjoyed thoroughly!

Claire has become an extension of our family. Over the past two years she has consistently supported us on a regular basis and I really don't know what we'd have done without her. She proactively looks for ways to help for every minute she is with us. She has cooked, tidied, done washing and gone shopping for us. We had a bit of a rocky start and Claire has helped me to overcome many challenges and to find my feet in my role as a mother. Doulas like Claire are the modern solution to the missing village. Aside from her knowledge, work ethic and clear passion to support new mothers, the thing that makes Claire unique is who she is - her kind nature and empathetic approach bring a really lovely energy into your home, which I think is really important round little ones. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Claire as a postnatal doula - in fact we'd go so far as to say that it would be the best possible decision you could make to help your life postpartum.

I had my first birth in 2021 and had a traumatic experience. I had used another hypnobirthing company for my first birth but feel like it didn't prepare me for what was going to happen. When I became pregnant with my second little one I was immediately terrified and all my flashbacks started again. I was referred to the psychological services for birth on NHS but didn't feel it was helping. I started looking for other ways to help as my 2nd birth was fast approaching. I did the one to one sessions with Claire and had the best experience. Claire made me feel safe from my first interaction with her and made it clear everything would go at my pace. We completed the course over zoom and although I had covered some of the information in another course this was delivered in a way that was easy to follow and explained how to apply all the relaxing tools and things I could control. I gave birth to my second little one in April 2023 and can truly say the course saved my birth this time. It was recommended I was induced again and immediately started to panic. However I used all the information given to me and made informed choices, asked questions and used the relaxation techniques given in the course and can truly say I had a healing experience. I cannot thank Claire or the Mindful Birth company enough!! I would recommend to anyone going through a similar experience to me.
