Postnatal Doula Support

What is a Postnatal Doula?

Postnatal doulas support families in the early days, weeks and months following childbirth, in a time that is also known as the fourth trimester. We nurture new parents by offering non-judgemental emotional, practical, and informational support, alongside gentle encouragement, a calming presence, and reassurance during this uniquely transformative time of life.

The early days at home with a new baby are such a special time, but they can also be challenging and overwhelming, particularly in the modern world, where the traditional ‘village’ that would care for new parents often no longer exists. And yet it is a time when new parents can really benefit from some extra care and support.

A postnatal doula can be your ‘village’ – helping you navigate the myriad of emotions and challenges of new parenthood, and supporting you towards a positive postnatal experience.

As your postnatal doula, it is my goal to gift you more time and energy to bond with your baby. To heal and recover from your birth experience, and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.

I will help you to have confidence in trusting your own instincts and in making the right choices for you and your family as you find your own path on this life changing journey.

Everyone's needs are unique, and I am passionate about offering care and support that reflects this. Whether it is help with feeding, sleeping, postnatal recovery, or more practical help, together we will work out the most effective way for me to support you.

I will listen carefully to your needs and we will create a package of support that is flexible and personal to you. This may range from a couple of hours a week, to full time support and / or overnight help, for as long as you feel you need me.

Most of my work with families is in the first three months after

childbirth, but I also work with families of older babies. Once we have had a baby, we are forever postpartum, and I passionately believe that support should be available whenever you need it.

I am based in Berkhamsted and Tring and cover the surrounding areas in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and North London. I can also offer virtual support over Zoom.

Claire has become an extension of our family. Over the past two years she has consistently supported us on a regular basis and I really don't know what we'd have done without her. She proactively looks for ways to help for every minute she is with us. She has cooked, tidied, done washing and gone shopping for us. We had a bit of a rocky start and Claire has helped me to overcome many challenges and to find my feet in my role as a mother. Doulas like Claire are the modern solution to the missing village. Aside from her knowledge, work ethic and clear passion to support new mothers, the thing that makes Claire unique is who she is - her kind nature and empathetic approach bring a really lovely energy into your home, which I think is really important round little ones. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Claire as a postnatal doula - in fact we'd go so far as to say that it would be the best possible decision you could make to help your life postpartum.
